Embrace Angels at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam

Members of the Somabotics Fellowship are in Amsterdam this week supporting the third iteration of Embrace Angels at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Following successful presentations at Nottingham Contemporary and the Cinekid Festival, this new iteration introduces enhanced conversational AI technology through My Chatbot’s Body – developed by Karen Lancel and Hermen Maat during an Artists in Residency Programme led by the Hybrid Intelligence Centre in Amsterdam.

Featuring robotic arms, conversational AI, live-generated poetry and human interaction, Embrace Angels invites visitors to explore thought-provoking questions about relationships between humans, robots and artificial intelligence and what it might mean for a machine to experience embodiment, touch and human connection.

The exhibition provides an exciting opportunity to share research with international audiences and to demonstrate how artist-led research can help us better understand emerging technologies and their impact on society.
