Somabotics attends UKAI

Last month members of the Somabotics: Creatively Embodying AI team attended the third UKAI – an event that connects the AI research community from across the country.
Feng Zhou presented a poster describing a wearable toolkit designed to enhance shared perception between humans and robots, facilitating real-time data collection to support embedded AI based applications : AI and Intelligent Synthetic Skin: Advancing Beyond Human Skin for Sensory Human-Robot Interaction.
Kieran Woodward delivered a novel approach to generating engaging physical interactions between human and robots through a time-series transformer architecture in his presentation: Beyond Functional Robots: Time-Series Transformers for Generating Robot Embraces.

Richard Ramchurn presented a paper introducing AI Lens, a novel AI-powered camera system that applies live generative transformations to video in real time: AI Lens – A Live Generative AI Camera System for Dynamic Image Tranformation.
Also in attendance, Steve Benford , who delivered an AI music performance at the events Drinks Reception.
