Exploring Feminist Perspectives in Human-Computer Interaction and Somabotics

Assistant Professor Stacy Hsueh recently travelled to NordiCHI, one of the leading international conferences in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), bringing together a wide audience from around the world to share research, practical insights, and creative explorations of technology and society.
As part of the conference programme, Stacy joined Derya Akbaba, Joo Young Park, Elisa D Mekler, Amir H Payberah and Vasiliki Tsaknaki to deliver a full-day workshop entitled A Feminist Salon: Finding and Making Our Carrier Bags for Feminist HCI at Åbo Akademi University, Vaasa. The interactive workshop invited participants to explore feminist approaches to HCI, creating space for dialogue, reflection, and collaborative thinking about the values and practices that shape technology design.

Following NordiCHI, Stacy travelled to Grinda, Sweden, to take part in a Feminist Somabotics Retreat organised by KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Through these international engagements, Stacy continues to contribute to important discussions on inclusive technology design and feminist research methods, while showcasing the innovative research being undertaken within the Somabotics Fellowship.
