AI LENS Sparks Discussion on the Future of AI and Filmmaking

On 29 September our AI LENS: Stories from the Latent Space event welcomed over 80 people to Broadway Cinema in Nottingham for the screening of three specially commissioned films exploring the use of artificial intelligence, creativity and storytelling.

The event brought together researchers, creatives, industry professionals and members of the public for an evening that sparked lively discussion about the opportunities, challenges and future implications of AI in filmmaking and the wider creative sector.
One of the most rewarding outcomes of the event was the enthusiastic response received afterwards. Many attendees got in touch to continue the conversation, sharing their reflections on the films and discussions. One commented that the event had only scratched the surface of what could be explored in this rapidly evolving area, while others expressed interest in future opportunities to engage with similar events and debates.
The positive feedback highlighted a strong appetite for deeper conversations about the relationship between artificial intelligence and creative practice, and reinforced the importance of creating spaces where researchers, artists and audiences can come together to exchange ideas and perspectives. Building on the success of the event, we hope to take AI LENS: Stories from the Latent Space out to wider audiences across the UK in the future.
