AI LENS showcased at the International Broadcasting Convention 2026

The AI LENS project was recently presented at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC 2026), a premier global event for the broadcast, media and entertainment technology industries. The demonstration provided an opportunity to engage directly with an international audience of industry professionals and organisations and to explore how emerging AI technologies might transform future approaches to filmmaking and production.

Over the course of the event, members of the project team spoke with more than 100 people from companies and organisations from around the world, including professionals working across broadcast, film, production technology and creative industries. The level of engagement with AI Lens was particularly significant: the project attracted sustained interest throughout the conference and became one of the busiest demonstrations in the Future Tech Hall.

The response provided valuable real-world validation of the project’s relevance to the creative industries. Discussions with industry professionals demonstrated strong interest in the practical application of AI within filmmaking, particularly in relation to how AI might become part of the creative production process rather than simply being used as a post-production or automation tool.

The international engagement also created opportunities to develop new industry relationships and identify potential avenues for future collaboration, research and development. Importantly, the conversations provided direct insight into how practitioners and technology companies perceive the opportunities and challenges associated with AI-driven filmmaking, helping to inform the project’s continuing research and development.

The IBC demonstration therefore extended the impact of AI Lens beyond the university research environment, exposing the work to a substantial international professional audience and establishing a platform for further knowledge exchange, collaboration and potential adoption within the creative technology sector.
