The Somabotics Fellowship is hosting a special evening at the Broadway Cinema, Nottingham, to celebrate the launch and screening of three short films created through the pioneering AI LENS project.

The event will showcase how artists and filmmakers are exploring new forms of creative expression through artificial intelligence.

AI LENS is an innovative creative research project that explores how filmmakers and artists can collaborate with artificial intelligence in real time. By integrating AI-generated imagery directly into the creative process, the project investigates new possibilities for embodied, collaborative, and experimental artistic practice, challenging conventional approaches to filmmaking and storytelling.

The evening will begin with a welcome from Professor Steve Benford, followed by an introduction to AI LENS from project lead and artist-researcher Richard Ramchurn.

Audiences will then be shown the three original films developed through the project:

• Basilisk – directed by Richard Ramchurn
• The Last Call – directed by Floyd Parker
• Amorphous – directed by Sumit Sakar

Following the screenings, attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the film makers and join a conversation exploring the creative potential of AI in filmmaking and the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging creative technologies during a Panel and Q&A session.
